Winners announced from a truly global
Loyalty Magazine Awards 2018
People travelled from all over the world to attend the special Gala Awards Evening for The Loyalty Magazine Awards, making it a truly global event.
Held at The Pavilion, Tower of London, The Loyalty Magazine Awards have established themselves as the premier event on the Loyalty calendar. Now in their seventh year, they pay tribute to the creativity, ingenuity, technical brilliance and sheer marketing genius that it takes to produce a world-class loyalty initiative.
Loyalty without a name
This year, for the first time, they recognised the growth in customer loyalty initiatives that exist without an actual programme. The category, called ‘Loyalty without a name’ impressed the judges with the quality of entries, and ensured it will be included in the category list again next year.
30 under 40
Also taking place for the first year was the 30 under 40 competition – to find the Rising Stars of Loyalty. This resulted in a most impressive list of high achieving professionals and nearly all the winners were in the room to receive their certificates. Again, this looks set to be a regular feature of The Loyalty Magazine Awards.
Personality of the Year
This year the recipient of the coveted Personality of the Year Awards is Bryan Pearson, internationally renowned author, loyalty philosopher and data guru, who is also CEO of LoyaltyOne. A profile of Bryan is published in the Winners edition of Loyalty Magazine.

Currency Alliance, the new prime sponsor for The Loyalty Magazine Awards, is creating a marketplace for loyalty partners to easily collaborate in a rich ecosystem at very low cost.
CEO Charles (Chuck) Ehredt explained: “Currency Alliance operates a technology platform to make it much easier for merchants and travel suppliers to connect with business partners to issue or redeem the same loyalty currencies, as well as enable the exchange of loyalty currencies. We are the ecosystem that creates more liquidity with loyalty point currencies so they are more appealing and attract engagement from customers. In this way we aim to reinvigorate participation from both frequent and less frequent customers in loyalty programmes.
Groundbreaking initiatives at The Loyalty Magazine Awards 2017
Heineken and Turkcell were big winners at The Loyalty Magazine Awards 2017, with Arla Foods another strong contender. This is the sixth year for the awards, which had a record number of entries of a very high standard. Heineken is breaking new ground with its programme that creates a bridge from retail to bar, by rewarding customers who buy beer in stores with the opportunity to earn free drinks when they visit a licenced bar.
The judges commented on the rise in importance of FMCG, direct loyalty initiatives with customers and said that Heineken had shown "how a company can pull together two distribution channels and engage with customers to show benefit across both of them. It is a groundbreaking initiative.”

Customer-facing companies proving fast adopters of connecting technologies
Last year the judges said the entries for Loyalty Magazine Awards were "staggeringly good". This year they are blown away by the extent to which commercial businesses in all sectors are using emerging technologies such as #AugmentedReality, #ArtificialIntelligence and #PersonalAssistants to bring about a Digital Transformation.
There is no doubt that these are exciting times and what is particularly obvious from the Loyalty Magazine Awards shortlist is that customer facing organisations are rising to the challenge, adopting the latest analytics and communication technology and connecting in the way their customers like best. Especially, this is via mobile devices and using social media.
